creating clarity
This practice is part of the Still Point collection — a set of reflections designed to help you pause, think clearly, and lead with intention.
Practice 3: Creating Clarity
Use this when an issue feels tangled, when you are circling the same decision, or when urgency is crowding out perspective.
Purpose
To create clarity around an issue that feels tangled or overwhelming, supporting clearer thinking and more intentional decision-making.
Set-up
Find a comfortable, quiet space. Have pen and paper ready. Allow around 15–20 minutes.
Flow
Choose one issue that is front of mind.
Move slowly through the following questions, giving yourself time to reflect and write:
What’s on your mind?
What would you like to be different?
What’s important about this for you?
What will happen if you do nothing?
What have you already done that has helped?
What options could move this forward?
Can you add another option?
What option might you be ignoring?
Pause. Read back over what you have written.
Then consider:
How might you take this forward?
Who or what could support you?
What might be your first step? (This could be an action or a shift in mindset.)
Close by setting a simple intention.
