remembering strengths
This practice is part of the Still Point collection — a set of reflections designed to help you pause, think clearly, and lead with intention.
Practice 4: Remembering Strengths
Use this when confidence has dipped, when you are stepping into something new, or when you need to reconnect with what you already bring.
Purpose
To reconnect with your strengths, qualities and skills, renewing confidence and supporting sustainable performance.
Set-up
Have pen and paper ready. Use the format that works for you: list, mind map, drawing or word cloud. Allow 20 minutes.
Flow
List the strengths, qualities or skills that come to mind.
Add those that come so naturally you rarely acknowledge them.
Consider what trusted colleagues or friends would say your strengths are.
Reflect on when these strengths showed up recently.
Notice more subtle moments when they were present.
Consider the impact these strengths had on you and others.
Observe how you hold yourself physically when you are using these strengths.
Circle a few words that stand out.
Identify one strength you want to consciously draw on in the coming weeks.
