noticing joy
This practice is part of the Still Point collection — a set of reflections designed to help you pause, think clearly, and lead with intention.
Practice 6: Noticing Joy
Use this when energy feels flat, when work has become purely functional, or when you want to reconnect with what sustains you.
Purpose
To reconnect with what energises and sustains you, strengthening resilience and long-term clarity.
Set-up
Sit comfortably with pen and paper. Allow around 15 minutes.
Flow
Write continuously for three minutes on each of the following prompts:
Over the last twelve months, what has brought you joy?
What brings you joy right now?
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Review what you’ve written. Circle themes or words that feel important.
Ask yourself:
What do I want to carry forward?
How might I protect or prioritise this energy more consciously?
